Presidents’ Blog – December 2020
Presidents' Blog - December 2020
As a Lions club, the period around December is always busy, in organising both the Tree of Remembrance and helping to run the Santa Float – and this year, despite the difficulties around Covid restrictions I am delighted that both are still going ahead.
A quick thanks to some organisations who have helped keep these two events ‘live’ this year:
NVB architects for again allowing the Tree to be erected (on Dec 4th) at Rook Lane Chapel and Fair Frome for working with us as the chosen beneficiary.
Frome Town Council, Mendip District Council, Somerset Highways Authority and Somerset & Dorset Police who have all helped with advice around complying with the latest guidelines in order to get the Lions/Rotary Santa Float on the road!
Finally, a couple of reminders:
Letters to Santa must go by email to [email protected] and both letters & cash will NOT be accepted at the float, plus the float will not be stopping anywhere or be parked at Asda, Sainsburys or the Town Centre as we would normally.
Secondly, Christmas will be different this year for everyone. Covid restrictions have impacted us all for many months now and it is often the lonely or homebound who feel this most. So please keep that in mind and do what you can, whether in person or by supporting the many organisations working across our town.
