When I wrote last month, the sun was out and optimistically I though the weather might warm up – sadly that didn’t happen and today it is blowing a hooley…it must warm up soon surely!
Today I want to focus on a couple of ways you can help us help our wonderful town.
Firstly, we have just launched an appeal to ‘Make the Riverbank Bloom’. Simply, we are asking the community to donate to a fund run by us, that will buy THOUSANDS of daffodils and other bulbs that will then be planted this autumn on the Riverbank (between the C&G car park and the Westway). Last year a thousand extra bulbs were planted there, but it really needs ten times that number.
For the price of a few cups of coffee you could fund the purchase of 100 daffs that would bloom for years to come – please visit https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/Frome-Riverbank-Bloom for more details and pledge whatever you can.
Second, many of us use Amazon (even if we would rather buy local). Frome Lions Club (CIO) are registered with Amazon under their nominated charities programme where, if you buy using your https://smile.amazon.co.uk/ account, Amazon donate 0.5% to your nominated charity – and that could be us.
That way, without it costing you anything, we will receive funds from Amazon, that we can then use locally in the community. You have to set up a smile.amazon account, but it is dead easy to do, just log onto Amazon and go into Accounts & Lists.
