Orchardleigh Golf Club Raises £7,500 for Lions Club
Orchardleigh Golf Club have had a busy year raising funds for the Lions Club.
Club Captain Malcolm Lloyd decided to support the Lions, having seen the work they do and the support they provide for local good causes.
The Golf Club organised a number of events which club members participated in, concluding with a charity golf day at the end of August, where the bulk of the funds were raised following a raffle and auction.
The sum raised amounted to £7,500; this was presented to the Lions on Saturday 31st October.
Lions had already decided to support two charities, one of which was Dorothy House, the other being Emergency Volunteer Services (Commonly known as Blood Bikes) who transport blood and other essential medical supplies in the surrounding area.
Each of these charities received £3000 , with the remaining £1500 being used to support the Lions numerous local good causes.
Presenting the cheque to the Lions Club, Club Captain Malcolm Lloyd said he was proud to support the Lions in the work they do, and everybody had had some fun participating in the events.
Lions President Clive Smith, then had the pleasure of handing the cheques over to representatives from the charities, who expressed sincere thanks in the support they had received.
