Operation Haybale

The Lions have been fundraising in Frome since 1967 and the Haybale was one of our first fund raising events.

In all that time our Haybale event has relied on the generosity of the local farming community.  During Sept-Nov each year we ask farmers to donate bales of hay (which we then sell to raise funds) or give a cash donation, to our nominated charity.

In 2025, we are going to be supporting the Somerset Prostate Support Association (SPSA)

Prostate cancer is now the most prevalent cancer in men, but there is no national screening programme for the disease. Currently, the only approved test is the PSA test, available on the NHS via your GP. Additionally the Somerset Prostate Support Association offer free discreet testing at events throughout the year in Somerset.

 The SPSA in conjunction with Frome Lions will be holding a free screening event in Frome during Spring 2026 (more details of this event to follow soon).
