Sporting Dinner - £23K raised for Bath Cancer Unit Support Group.
Our Sporting Dinner in 2024 was held in February, with guest speaker Steve Backley MBE three times Olympic Medallist, four times European Champion, three times Commonwealth Champion and three times world record holder, who will also be a key member of the BBC commentary team for the 2024 Paris Olympics. Over 180 people attended the evening and enjoyed hearing from Steve and participating in the charity auction & raffle.
This year we were very fortunate to have the support of the Richard Oatley Foundation Trust who agreed to match whatever was raised on the night, so this doubled the amount raised by the event.
Our thanks to all those who attended, to Steve Backley, to all the sponsors who gave generously, and to Chris Vincent of Orchardleigh our host, enabling Frome Lions Club to present a cheque for £11.5K, & the same amount from the Richard Oatley Foundation, in support of the great work done by the Bath Cancer Unit Support Group..
