President’s Blog – 2 ways to help
Firstly our thoughts must surely be with the people of
Ukraine, whether they are still in their homeland or have now fled to neighbouring
countries. Lions Clubs International have already sent significant funds to Lions
Clubs absed in the Ukraine and the surrounding nations to help with refugee relief
and will continue to do so in the coming weeks. The LCIF Refugees & Displaced
Persons Fund can be supported via www.lionsclubs.org/en.
Secondly, I wanted to mention today one of our ‘unsung
heroes’ – not a person as such, but a scheme that can help others. The Message
In a Bottle (MIAB) scheme is a simple one, as local Lion James McAlpine
explains-
“Anyone can take part in MIAB – you
just write your personal and medical details on a standard form and keep it in
a common location – your fridge! The special MIAB bottle will then be found by
the emergency services, should they have to attend your home”

bottles are FREE – for Frome or the surrounding area, just contact J. McAlpine

Finally, a couple of reminders – our next quiz is on March
11th (yes, this Friday) at the Rugby Club (it isn’t too late to
enter a team) and, the popular Lions Summer Fete will be on June 18th
this year at Victoria Park.
