Presidents’ Blog – July 2021

Change – sometimes we can plan for it and other times we can’t. For a lot of people these last 16 months have meant a lot of unplanned changes, yet for others may be very little change has taken place. Change is often a disruptor, but it can be a force for good as well as not, and hopefully as we come out of lockdown, the next wave of changes will be positive for all of us.

Frome Lions Club have been around for 54 years now and seen many changes in that time, but we will always be there to Serve our Community. If you want our help in any way please contact us.

And talking of the change…the best laid plans of mice & men, as they say…no sooner had I announced the date of our Summer Fete on my last Blog, the rules changed, and we had to change the date again…to Saturday August 7th.

The Fete will be from 12.30-4.00pm, in Victoria Park as usual, and will include lots of fun things to do for everyone.

‘JunkFish’ will be there with their great (and free) craft tent for kids (see photo below), plus the great Dave Hickory with magic shows & walkabout fun. And all the usual attractions will be there including the Lions Train, plus a BBQ and other Refreshments on site.

As is traditional with our Summer Fete, there will also be over 20 stalls run by local clubs and others looking to raise money or raise their profile (or both), so please come along and support them too. Anyone wanting to have a stall at the Fete should contact [email protected] ASAP.

One other date for your diary is Sunday September 19th, when we will be holding our new annual event – Ride Kids Ride – at the Old Showfield – more details soon.

Meanwhile if you are going to any of the Frome Festival Events this year, enjoy!
